Miami FL (SPX) Jul 16, 2007 Electron Solar Energy, an international distributor of alternative energy systems, has announced that the Company has doubled the size of its Miami facility to accommodate strong order flow from both domestic and international customers. "We were fortunate to have secured a lease for a second facility, adjacent to our headquarters in Miami, Florida. This more than doubles the square footage that we had until now. "After several months, we have completed the build-out of our new infrastructure, which includes an upgraded and expanded voice and data communications network," said President and CEO of Electron Solar Energy Christopher Quinn. "The upgrade includes adding a six-line state-of-the-art Phone system to handle the influx of calls we receive regarding specifications and for direct sales. Our facility is also designed to accommodate increased inventory levels to ensure we continue to provide our customers with industry-leading delivery and turnaround times." "The expansion is seamless to our customers and suppliers, but has an immediate impact in terms of helping us to effectively meet or accelerate delivery schedules based our new operating efficiencies," added Quinn. Santa Barbara CA (SPX) Jul 13, 2007Using plastics to harvest the energy of the sun just got a significant boost in efficiency thanks to a discovery made at the Center for Polymers and Organic Solids at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Nobel laureate Alan Heeger, professor of physics at UC Santa Barbara, worked with Kwanghee Lee of Korea and a team of other scientists to create a new "tandem" organic solar cell with increased efficiency. The discovery, explained in the July 13 issue of the journal Science, marks a step forward in materials science. |
