Nelson Ferreira, CEO of Ferreira Construction and John Drexinger, President of NJSS, have launched Vanguard Energy Partners. The synergy between the two companies provides the highest quality of solar energy systems implementation with maximal energy output to end users, third party system owners, and administrators. Vanguard's unique focus on energy efficiency, system performance, and monitoring will strengthen their solar systems offering.

With the announcement, Ferreira Construction continues to set the benchmark by being on the cutting edge of clean technology innovation," said Jeanne M Fox, President of the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities. "The combined strength of these two companies fosters the expansion of New Jersey's green economy and furthers the creation of new green jobs in the Garden State."

Vanguard will deliver efficient renewable energy solutions while contributing to New Jersey's green economy sector. "By accomplishing our initiatives, Vanguard will contribute to the state's financial viability and minimize our environmental concerns", said CEO Nelson Ferreira.

Vanguard, with offices in New Jersey, New York City, and Florida, will provide large scale renewable energy systems to the public and private sectors. The main focus will include project implementation, while actively participating in our industry's legislative initiatives.

Prior to this year, the State of New Jersey has successfully implemented solar projects of limited size and scope. However, the renewable energy industry is now evolving toward large multi-megawatt energy systems for municipal, corporate and educational facilities. "Vanguard now has all of the necessary resources to address these markets", explained John Drexinger.

Ferreira Construction, founded in 1988, has become a leader in the industry with over 100 completed heavy and civil building projects with a bonding capacity of over $250M. Ferreira specializes in all facets of highway, bridge, marine, and building construction. Ferreira has recently completed a new corporate headquarter, which has won an award from the New Jersey Clean Energy Program as the First Net Zero Electric Commercial Site in the US.

This feat has been accomplished by the application of a web based real time energy monitoring tool, energy efficient systems and a solar electric array.

New Jersey Solar Solutions was founded in 2003 and has completed over 80 renewable energy projects. NJSS has over 50 years of combined construction, project management, and solar system design and implementation experience.

Capturing Sunlight
Lausanne, Switzerland (SPX) Mar 03, 2008
Solar cell technology is marching ahead, though it still struggles with the two problems: efficiency and high production costs. In collaboration with Satoshi Uchida at the University of Tokyo, Michael Grätzel and his research group at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne have now developed new sensitizers that should help an inexpensive type of solar cell to be more efficient. As they report in the journal Angewandte Chemie, the sensitizers are based on the dye indoline.
