Solar Energy International (SEI) is pleased to announce Advanced PV Online Training Course. Learn more about designing and installing an NEC code compliant solar electric (photovoltaic) power system without leaving your home. A six-week, Internet-based, online course of instruction with text, online reference materials and Internet resource links. This course provides 60 cumulative hours of training, that may be used towards NABCEP certification purposes.

This course is designed to follow the PV Design and Installation workshop or the PV Design Online course with the next level of design criteria and maintenance issues. Participants myst have completed SEI's Online PV Design course or the hands-on PV Design and Installation workshop or have permission of the instructor.

This course heavily emphasizes the United States National Electrical Code as it pertains to PV systems, and is especially useful for people who currently work in, or plan to be employed in the PV industry. This course also specifically provides information that is helpful in preparation for the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) PV Installer Certification exam.

Our goals for you in this course are to:

- Review designing Stand-Alone PV systems.

- Understand NEC requirements specifically pertaining to Stand-Alone PV systems.

- Learn how to evaluate PV system schematics.

- Learn how to design PV/Wind and PV/Generator Hybrid systems.

- Take an in-depth look at batteries and charge controllers.

- Learn about battery options, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

- Understand charging algorithms, MPPT and voltage step down features for charge controllers.

- Review and expand on designing Grid-Tied PV Systems.

- Understand NEC requirements specifically pertaining to Grid-Tied PV systems.

- Learn in depth wire sizing method for full NEC compliance.

- Learn about properly grounded PV systems and other safety/NEC considerations.

- Take an in depth look at trackers, site analysis and additional mounting considerations.

- Learn about PV system troubleshooting and evaluating PV system performance.

Course materials include a copy of the 2008 National Electric Code book.

OAISYS Announces Solar Energy System Installation

OAISYS proudly announces it has completed installation of solar electric panels on its headquarters facility at 7965 South Priest Drive. The installation of the 10-kilowatt direct current system is expected to generate approximately 16,000 kilowatt hours of electricity every year. By using this solar energy system, the company will be eliminating an estimated 19,305 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions over the first year.
