SPG Solar announces the conclusion of being the selected provider for the GoSolarMarin Community Discount Program. The GoSolarMarin Community Discount Program hit an all time record number of kilowatts sold/installed and homes that have gone solar as part of the three month program. More than 100 new solar photovoltaic (electric) systems were purchased as a result of SPG Solar's efforts in Marin County.

The systems, when installations are complete, would represent a total of more than 450 kilowatts of solar power, the equivalent of removing 100 cars off the road and 525 tons of pollution annually. It would require 119 acres of trees to reduce an equivalent amount of Carbon Dioxide.

The program was based on a special pricing plan conceived by a group of interested homeowners and organized by Lisa Max (who formed GoSolarMarin). The GoSolarMarin group rate was a result of a competitive RFP process, bringing the price of solar power in Marin County down to $7.94 per watt from its previous pricing of $9.32. This resulted in a savings of more than $4,000 for the average 3 kilowatt installation.

"What an exciting time these last 3-4 months have been in Marin County. SPG Solar was not only responsible for taking over 100 homes solar during this time, but also had an impact of educating hundreds of other homeowners about the benefits of solar and energy conservation," Dan Thompson, Founder and CEO of SPG Solar.

Ted Walsh Sales Manager said that "as far as Marin homeowners are concerned, as far as SPG Solar is concerned, -- the ...Program has been a great success. We take pride in our community as we live locally and hire locally. I love seeing how our community has embraced sustainability."

The community discount program attracted attention from news media around the world. Countless stories, including articles in solar industry trade publications, radio and internet broadcast interviews highlighted SPG Solar, GoSolarMarin, and the success of the program.

In response to the growing interests from local communities, elected officials and individuals, many more community discount programs have been announced through out California offering great incentives for hundreds and thousands of Bay Area homeowners the opportunity to go solar. SPG Solar offers community discount programs and pricing to the homes and businesses in Sonoma County, Butte County, Solano County, the Tri-Valley area, and San Diego.
