Los Angeles CA (SPX) Apr 08, 2008 SolarHotTub.com, a leading retailer of Do-It-Yourself Solar Hot Tub Kits is pleased to announce anti-freeze prevention with the new wax activated Ogontz freeze valve. The problem with heating water with solar in freeze locations is the chance of trapping water in the panels. Trapped water will freeze and break the solar panels and cause quite a mess. The solution is a simple in-line freeze valve that is on the line feeding the solar thermal panels, which are generally on a roof. The answer is Ogontz's Freeze Prevention Valve for Solar Hot Water Systems. "People love the sun but fear the freeze," said Bradley Bartz, owner of SolarHotTub.com. "This new and clever freeze valve is a cost economical way for our Solar Hot Tub kit to penetrate any market." The Solar Hot Tub kit from SolarHotTub.com features a 68 watt flexible "peel and stick" solar electric panel that powers a 12v water pump. The pump takes the water from the hot tub, flows thru a filter it and runs it to a roof where it circulates thru solar thermal collectors. These solar thermal collectors are either extruded plastic at 4' by 20' in size or three framed copper panels that measure 20" by 6' each. The last step is to hit the solar heated water with Ultraviolet light to kill organisms and then return hot to the source. The freeze valve is from Ogontz Corporation out of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania. The main features of the new Freeze Prevention Valve for Solar Hot Water Systems are: CPVC stabilized body, brass and stainless steel components, long life silicone plug seal and thermal actuator. Available in two models the FPS35 starts to open at 39oF, model FPS40 starts to open at 43oF. Inlet and discharge fittings are 3/4 FNPT, Included 1/2 MNPT and hose adapter.
