A Carbondale, Colo., company is revolutionizing the way consumers and utilities embrace and utilize renewable energy. In a program that's the first of its kind in the nation, on May 17 the Clean Energy Collective received approval from the Garfield Board of County Commissioners for a long-term lease on 3.4 acres of airport land to create the largest privately owned solar panel array in the state. Solar energy could account for up to one-quarter of the world's electricity by 2050, the International Energy Agency said Tuesday.
