Carmanah Awarded Solar PV Contract By Town Of Markham

Carmanah Technologies Corp. has been awarded a $1.5 million (CAD) contract by the Town of Markham, Ontario to supply, install, and commission a 250 kW solar photovoltaic grid-tie system. The system will be installed on the Town's newly re-located Emergency Operation Centre. The project is being funded by a combination of Markham's own capital budget money and infrastructure stimulus funds provided through a funding partnership with the governments of Canada and Ontario. Japan donates 10 million dollars for Galapagos solar energy
Quito (AFP) July 2, 2010
Japan has donated 10 million dollars to Ecuador to help fund a solar energy project in the Galapagos Islands, a UN-designated World Heritage site, Ecuador's Electricity Ministry said Friday. An agreement between Quito and the Japan International Cooperation System Company will help start a plan to introduce "clean energy with solar generation systems to be located on Baltra Island," one of 13 islands that form the archipelago, the ministry said in a statement.
