UTC to deliver new F-15 wheels and brakes
Farmington, Conn. (UPI) Jul 13, 2016 - UTC Aerospace Systems is set to begin delivering new wheels and brakes for 475 F-15s in August, the company said Monday.

New carbon brakes will provide four times' longer life than the current iteration, via the use of proprietary DURACARB carbon heat sink material, UTC said in a statement.

The bolt-less wheels employ a lock-ring design, requiring fewer parts and lowering maintenance time and cost compared to traditional bolted aircraft wheels, the company said.

The new equipment will be offered for use on the F-15C/D aircraft, with a different version for the heavier F-15E.

The F-15 Eagle is an all-weather, extremely maneuverable, tactical fighter.

Bell-Boeing Joint Project Office has been awarded a $544 million U.S. Navy contract modification for four MV-22 Ospreys for the government of Japan.

The modification provides for the long lead production materials and manufacture and delivery of the tilt-rotor aircraft.

It also includes incorporation of an engineering change proposal for the standby flight display.

Work will be performed in Texas, Pennsylvania, New York, Utah, California, Canada, Arizona, the U.K., Washington, New Mexico, Michigan, Vermont, North Carolina, Georgia and Ohio.

The job is expected to be completed by May 2020.

The Naval Air Systems Command is the contracting activity.

The Osprey is a joint service multi-role combat aircraft utilizing tiltrotor technology to combine the vertical performance of a helicopter with the speed and range of a fixed-wing aircraft.

Boeing to produce four P-8A Poseidons for Australia
Washington (UPI) Jul 20, 2016 - Boeing has been awarded a $100 million U.S. Navy contract modification for production of four P-8A Poseidon aircraft for the Australian government.

The modification provides for long-lead parts and efforts associated with the manufacture off four full-rate production Lot 8 aircraft under a cooperative engagement agreement.

Work will be performed in Washington, Maryland, New York and the U.K.

The expected completion date is June 2017.

Naval Air Systems Command is the contracting activity.

The Poseidon is designed for long-range anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions in broad-area maritime and littoral environments.
