Boeing to provide additional support for Saudi F-15s
by Ryan Maass
Riyadh (UPI) Mar 06, 2017

Boeing received a $46 million contract modification from the U.S. Air Force to perform interim contractor support for Saudi Arabia's recently purchased F-15s.

Interim contractor support refers to an agreement wherein a service will defer an investment due to a lack of technological capabilities, such as equipment spares or technical data. Boeing is expected to complete this service for Saudi Arabia by the end of March.

The modification supports U.S. foreign military sales to Saudi Arabia. The kingdom commissioned its latest batch of F-15SA fighters in late January as part of its effort to fight extremist militants in Yemen.

The contract is comprised entirely of foreign military sales to Saudi Arabia. The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center is the contracting activity.

The F-15SA is a modified version of the F-15 Strike Eagle, an air supremacy jet designed for air-to-air combat missions. The aircraft is typically armed with a 20mm cannon in addition to air-to-air and air-to-ground missiles.
