Vista Solar has announced the completion of a 183-kilowatt solar power carport system for Campbell Church of Christ and Campbell Christian School in Campbell, CA. The four-carport system, which was designed and installed by Vista Solar, features high-efficiency SunPower solar panels, which deliver 50 percent more energy than conventional panels in the same amount of space. "We went with SunPower because in our research they were consistently considered the premier solar panel," says School Superintendent Shawn Stuart, "and it is a local company, based in the Silicon Valley for 30 years." Vista Solar helped secure a $0 down, 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for the church, and designed a system that is expected to offset 97% of their electricity bill, and generate more than 180,000 kilowatt-hours of clean energy each year - the equivalent of offsetting 140 tons of CO2 emissions. "By going solar we have set our power price for the next 15 years," said Stuart. "It's a win-win for the environment, our kids and families, and our organization." As part of the PPA agreement, Vista Solar will monitor the system for 15 years to ensure it is performing at or above expectations.
