Digital Angel's FASTFIND MAX Personal Locator Beacons Awarded FCC Approval

Digital Angel has announced that its McMurdo FASTFIND MAX PLB (Personal Locator Beacon) range, the MAX and the MAX G (with 12-channel GPS), has been awarded Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Type Approval certification, signaling the go-ahead for these PLBs to be sold in the U.S.

McMurdo is one of the world's leading suppliers of emergency distress beacons. The MAX and MAX G, the very latest models to be released, feature a maximum 48-hour operational battery life from activation, operating at temperatures as low as -20degrees C.

The MAX and MAX G are registered by the individual user as a safeguard against life threatening incidents that could occur anywhere in the world. Once activated the MAX and MAX G transmit a unique identification signal along with the user's current position via the Cospas-Sarsat international search and rescue satellite system on 406 MHz. The signal is passed to regional search and rescue authorities who can rapidly get to the scene.

The Type Approval certification allows McMurdo's US distributor, Revere Supply Inc., to begin fulfilling large scale orders to an increasingly safety-aware outdoor, aviation and marine market. The FASTFIND MAX range has already been Cospas-Sarsat approved and received European approval in January of this year. This additional approval now enables McMurdo and Revere to benefit from sales from the U.S. market.

Joseph J. Grillo, President and Chief Executive Officer of Digital Angel, said, "We expect the U.S. approval will further enhance the increase of global sales that we have experienced in other countries from the introduction of the FASTFIND MAX range of products. Furthermore, beginning in February 2009, only 406 MHz PLBs will be detected by the Cospas-Sarsat satellite system, so this U.S. approval is coming at an important time for the Company and our customers."

Revere's Andy Kaufmann comments, "The FASTFIND MAX and MAX G are clearly the ultimate performance PLBs available today. Easily user-replaceable battery packs have a five-year storage life. FASTFIND MAX G's integral 12-channel GPS navigation receiver gives a typical positional accuracy of +/- 62 meters and new position updates every 20 minutes, significantly reducing the normal search area down from a 28-square nautical mile area, with a clear view skyward. It also has a visual indication of GPS position acquisition.

The FASTFIND MAX range of PLB products from McMurdo provide professional and recreational mariners, fishermen, light aircraft pilots and those involved in outdoor adventure activities with the best chance of being found without delay in the event of an emergency. PLBs are intended for use within the maritime, aviation and land environments where permitted by national administrations.

Rosum Secures Financing For Mobile TV And Home Telecommunications Markets

Rosum has announced that it has raised $15 million in new financing. Existing investors Charles River Ventures, Allegis Capital, Steamboat Ventures and KTB Ventures, and new investor TruePosition, Inc., a subsidiary of Liberty Media Corporation, participated in this round of financing.
