Bluffdale UT (SPX) Mar 31, 2011 GOAL ZERO has announced the availability of the Guide 10 Adventure Kit, the most efficient compact solar charging system for handheld devices. An ultra-lightweight solar charging system created for broad functionality, the Guide 10 Adventure Kit functions as a pocket size battery charger for a variety of USB and DC portable devices. Fully charged, the Guide 10 Adventure Kit delivers enough portable power to charge a cell phone for 30 hours, a smart phone for 7-10 hours, or an iPod for 40 hours. The GOAL ZERO Guide 10 Adventure Kit consists of an AA and AAA-compatible power pack and a 7-watt solar panel system composed of mono-crystalline solar cells, providing the highest return electricity rate of any currently available solar technology. The durable solar panels attract enough energy to fully charge the AA/AAA batteries in the power pack within 1.5 hours of full sunlight. Users can then charge their handheld devices by connecting them to the compact power pack's USB or 12V output ports. "While there have been multiple attempts at introducing an effective portable solar charging solution for handheld devices, this product category has seen numerous challenges, ranging from size, to practicality, to efficiency," said Joe Atkin, president of GOAL ZERO. "We looked to address these shortcomings and have created a solution that is not only compact and affordable, but also one that is highly efficient and powerful. Whereas other products in this category take days to attract enough solar energy to power a handheld device, the Guide 10 Adventure Kit charges devices almost as quickly as a wall charger does, which is a result of using the most efficient solar cell technology available." For added convenience and flexibility, users can remove the AA/AAA batteries from the Guide 10 Adventure Kit's power pack for use in battery-powered devices. The power pack also includes a convenient built-in LED flashlight that runs for 20+ hours per full charge.
