Berlin (AFP) May 24, 2011 German air safety experts announced they would shut down airports in the north of the country from 5:00 am (0300 GMT) on Wednesday because of ash coming from an Icelandic volcano. The statement did not mention Hanover, which is also in the north. However it said Berlin's airports "may also be affected... through the course of the morning."
