Harris providing advanced satcom terminals to Army

Advanced satellite communications terminals are being produced an installed by Harris Corporation for a U.S. Army program.

The task orders for the Army's Modernization of Enterprise Terminals program will provide the worldwide backbone for high-priority military communications and missile defense systems worldwide.

Terminals of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Missile Defense and Defense Information Systems agencies are covered under the orders.

"MET's state-of-the-art multi-band terminals will provide critical communications and situational awareness capabilities for U.S. decision-makers and military personnel deployed worldwide," said Ed Zoiss, president, Harris Electronic Systems. "Harris has supported the warfighter with high-performance, cost-effective military satellite communications capabilities for decades, and we are committed to continue this support through the MET program."

The task orders are worth $41 million. They were issued under a 2009 contract that was for five years, with five option years.

The task orders brings Harris' orders under the MET program to $516 million.

Harris is supplying fixed-site and hardened transportable terminals with dual X and Ka-band access for the program.
