Jackson Associates has announced the availability of a new MAISY EnergyApp that, for the first time, provides a single source of integrated energy use, hourly loads, weather data and energy spend for individual zip code areas. The ZIPEnergyApp integrates the widely-used MAISY Residential and Commercial Energy Use and Hourly Loads Databases with other source data to provide a comprehensive picture of utility customer energy use across the US. MAISY energy information products have been used by more than 100 energy-related organizations including utilities, retail energy providers, regulators, equipment manufacturers, consulting firms, the US Department of Energy and its national labs and others. "This application is the first to provide ZIP-level integrated information on residential and commercial utility customer energy use and hourly loads, utility rates, energy spend and weather in a single information source. The interplay of these elements is critical in determining the economics of many applications including solar and other DER (distributed energy resource) applications," said Dr. Jerry Jackson, President of Jackson Associates. Diversity in these variables across even small geographic areas can have huge impacts on economic evaluations. The lack of a ZIP-level integrated data source has been a major impediment to DER marketing activities. As these markets evolve, manufacturers and suppliers require more detailed customer information to stay competitive and to develop new products for specific market segments. We developed the new DEREnergyApp in response to these client needs." ZIPEnergyApp can also be used in customer demonstrations to illustrate products and services in similar facilities. In addition to extracting MAISY databases information, ZIPEnergyApp includes historical NOAA weather data, TMY3 solar data for 1200 locations, MAISY Utility Rates Database data and other information. MAISY Utility Customer Databases have been developed from information on more than 5 million utility customers. The ZIPEnergyApp is embedded in an Excel Workbook, providing a familiar, intuitive platform to facilitate additional client evaluation and processing. Users can specify values of variables to filter results for market segments (e.g., residential households earning more than $100,000). ZIPEnergyApps are available for metro areas, states, regions and the entire US. Jackson Associates is also available to customize client ZIPEnergyApp workbooks.
