Northrop tapped for ballistic radar detection services

Northrop Grumman has been awarded a contract by the Department of Defense for ballistic missile radar detection services and support.

The deal, announced Friday by the Pentagon, enables Northrop Grumman to provide modifications and sustainment on radar systems that support multiple U.S. Air Force operated radar systems that provide for early warning and detection of incoming ballistic missiles.

The contract, from the U.S. Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, is worth $866 million under the terms of an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity multiple line item contract, the Pentagon said.

Northrop Grumman's services will support the "Ballistic Missile Early Warning systems and PAVE Phased Array Warning system radars, and the Parameter Acquisition Radar Attack Characterization system."

Work on the contract will occur in Colorado and other undisclosed locations, and is expected to be complete in May 2023.

No funds will be obligated to Northrop Grumman at time of award, the Defense Department said.

Raytheon contracted for ballistic radar systems for Romania
Washington (UPI) May 25, 2018
Raytheon has been awarded a contract from the Defense Department for ballistic radar tracking. The deal, from U.S. Army Contracting Command, was announced Thursday in a Pentagon press release and is valued at more than $395.8 million, enabling Raytheon to provide "phased array tracking on radar to intercept option fire unit."
