OPDE has begun construction of a new 8.9 MWp solar farm near Eastbourne, in East Sussex. The new solar farm represents a total investment of over Pounds 7, 9 million and is scheduled to be connected to the electricity network by this December.

The PV plant will comprise approximately 35,200 solar modules and will generate enough electricity to meet the equivalent annual demand of approximately 2,640 homes in the UK.

"Today is an important step towards meeting our objective of connecting 100MW of PV capacity by March 2015," said OPDE's head of UK development, "this project is part of an active and successful UK development pipeline including a 12 MWp solar farm, which was successfully connected in March 2014, and 6,9 MWp solar farm in Hothfield where construction is due commence imminently."

OPDE has obtained also the planning consent for a new 18MWp solar farm located near the town of Iwade in Kent, England; and the planning consent obtained for a 10.8MWp solar farm in Crewkerne, Somerset.

In addition to this strong presence in the UK market, OPDE is also very active in the development, investment and operation of new solar farms in several markets across the world including, among others, Mexico and Brazil.
