Al Husainiyah power plant with a cost of $74 million, 50 MW greenfield solar park located in Ma'an Governorate (200 km south of Amman) in Jordan. The plant will source over 200,000 panels (330Wp), as the last panel number 200,680 was manufactured in Philadelphia Solar's manufacturing facility in Jordan. Philadelphia Solar was chosen to develop the project under the direct bidding system through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the National Electricity Company, and it was the owner of the project with the AMEA power company. It is worth noting that the Al Husainiyah Power Generation company has secured a 20-year PPA for a project in the Ma'an governorate, with the electricity generated to be sold to Jordan's National Electricity Company, The produced electricity is expected to be enough to meet the demand of 42,000 homes with affordable clean energy and avoid at least 100,000 tonnes in annual CO2 emissions per year. The project aimed at supporting the government's vision to enhance the security and affordability of its power sector by reducing its reliance on expensive imported fossil fuels, it is also supported the sustainability and expansion of this facility, along with the good-quality jobs it provided to approximately 375 employees, including 26 female employees in administrative and managerial positions. The COD for this project will begin by May 2021.
