Proposals to create a comprehensive security systems environment for Latin American countries are being prepared by a state-owned Russian company.

Rosoboronexport, part of Rostec State Corporation, says the systems and "Safe City" program would be for states, major administrative entities, cities, border areas and critical assets and would provide integrated real-time surveillance and a resources command-and-control system.

The technology would improve the efficiency of security operations units.

"Russia has great experience and all the necessary equipment to build the Safe City," it said. "Implementing such a system to ensure safety and security at the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi in 2014 is one of the most striking examples.

"In particular, such experience could be used by Brazil during preparations for the Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016."

In addition to the integrated technology, the company's program would offer offers weapons and equipment to fit law enforcement and special units, search-and-inspection gear.

Rosoboronexport said Safe City programs would be implemented with local companies, increasing economic and military-technical cooperation between Russia and the Latin American countries.

Announcement of Rosoboronexport's plan comes on the heels of President Vladimir Putin's visit to the region.
