SAIC is to provide logistics support services to the U.S. military's Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical and Biological Defense.

The services covered by a multiple-award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract from the U.S. Contracting Command, include performance-based logistics, operation maintenance, and supply chain support.

"We are proud to continue our support to the JPEO-CBD by bringing our logistics, supply chain, and CBRNE knowledge and experience to provide best-in-class solutions to their joint project managers," said Jim Scanlon, senior vice president and general manager of SAIC's U.S. Army Customer Group. "SAIC will partner with the JPEO-CBD to provide affordable logistics support to sustain and meet global force readiness requirements."

SAIC, or Science Applications International Corp., said it is one of 17 companies that will compete for task orders under the contract, which is for three years, with one three-year option.

The contract carries a maximum value of $900 million for all awardees if the option is exercised.

The JPEO-CBD performs research and development work and oversees the procurement and deployment of biological and chemical detection systems, decontamination platforms, information management tools, collective protection equipment, drugs, vaccines and medical devices.
