The newly introduced Constellation Management Platform, a web-based application, is set to streamline satellite constellation operations through its intuitive interface. This development is a result of collaborative efforts, co-funded by the European Space Agency (ESA) under the ARTES Core Competitiveness (CC) Programme, with a 1.5 million euro award to Spire, along with the Luxembourg Space Agency's (LSA) support.

The Constellation Management Platform represents a leap forward for Spire Space Services, Spire's comprehensive solution that allows customers to build, launch, and operate their own satellite constellations with a flat monthly fee. This service democratizes access to space by simplifying the process of deploying and scaling satellite constellations for diverse applications such as Earth observation, connectivity, radio frequency intelligence, and space domain awareness.

Traditionally, satellite constellation operations have been a complex and resource-intensive endeavor, often requiring extensive manpower for continuous operation. Leveraging over a decade of experience in operating the world's largest multi-payload satellite constellation, Spire has automated and optimized these operations. This advancement enables companies to manage their satellites effortlessly, requiring only a single operator with a laptop.

The platform offers a direct connection to satellites, allowing users to task, schedule, and monitor all aspects of their payload, fleet health, and mission planning with ease. It integrates Spire's ground operations software, enabling operations with multiple global ground station networks for tracking, scheduling, commanding, downlinking data, and telemetry monitoring. Built on Amazon Web Services, the platform seamlessly delivers satellite data directly into customers' ecosystems and is accessible through a Spire API.

Frank Frulio, General Manager of Space Services at Spire, emphasized the platform's significance, stating, "Satellites never sleep. You build and launch a satellite once, but then you have to operate it and communicate with it thousands of times over its lifetime." He further highlighted how this innovation simplifies space operations, making it accessible for various businesses to leverage space insights for competitive advantage in areas like climate change mitigation and remote forestry management.

The Constellation Management Platform is available not only to customers building, launching, and operating satellites with Spire Space Services but also to those seeking to streamline and optimize the operations of their existing constellations.

The platform's impact is already evident, with Dr. Gernot Groemer, Director at the Austrian Space Forum, noting its transformative effect on ADLER-2 operations, making satellite management a hands-off, effortlessly managed process. This automation has been pivotal in shifting their focus from operational logistics to analyzing payload data, enhancing their research initiatives.

Dietmar Schmitt, Acting Head of Systems, Strategic Programme Lines, and Technology Department for the ESA Connectivity and Secure Communications Directorate, remarked on the platform's role in simplifying constellation mission operations. He emphasized the efficiency gains in planning and resource utilization, thanks to the automated end-to-end satellite operations system managed through this web application.
