Auburn Hills MI (SPX) Apr 13, 2011 United Solar has announced the completion of a 807 kilowatt (kW) solar power system on a total of six school rooftops in the South Country School District in New York. "UNI-SOLAR laminates are a perfect fit for the South Country School District which was looking to install efficient and powerful solar energy systems," said AGT's President, Michael Kornahrens. "We are proud to provide excellent products to help the South Country School District strive for energy independence and play a major role in reducing greenhouse gases, all while educating the students on the importance of renewable energy." These installations are expected to save the district more than $152,533 annually and will provide a carbon offset of 824 metric tons per year. The annual energy generation to the district is projected to be over 948,000 kWh per year - approximately 158,000 kWh of energy generated per school. "UNI-SOLAR laminates are the most seamlessly-integrated solar products available today, which makes them a very desirable option for projects like those in the South Country School District," said Ken Fox, President-Americas of United Solar. "Educational partnerships such as this are critical to the future sustainability of our planet. By educating today's youth on renewable energy, we are developing a foundation for long-term sustainability." Weidersum Associates Architects PLLC, a full-service architectural firm located in New York, was the project developer and Triple M Roofing, a New York-based roofing company, was the installer of choice for this installation. A web-based solar monitoring system provided by AGT has been installed at each school, displaying real- time usage data. The monitors will detail energy and cost savings, providing school visitors, students and staff a clear understanding of the advantages of this earth-friendly technology and a hands-on educational tool. United Solar has more than 25 years experience in the industry of solar power generation, and is the largest manufacturer of lightweight flexible solar panels in the world.
