Ukraine says downed 21 of 41 Russian missiles fired overnight

Kyiv, Ukraine (AFP) Jan 23, 2024

Ukraine said Tuesday that Russian forces had fired 41 missiles across the country but its air defence systems had downed 21 of them.

Ukraine's army chief Valery Zaluzhny said on social media that the barrage included cruise and ballistic missiles as well as anti-aircraft missiles. Zaluzhny added that his forces had downed 15 cruise missiles, five ballistic missiles and one guided Kh-59 missile.
