Australia lags in renewable energy

Australia lags behind in renewable energy investment despite having "world class" renewable energy resources, a new study indicates. The "Renewable Energy Investment Opportunities and Abatement in Australia" study by Bloomberg New Energy Finance, commissioned by The Climate Institute and Westpac, predicts record investment globally in renewable energy for 2010. Japanese trading house Sojitz Corp. is planning to enter the solar power generation business through a 100 million dollar investment in a US firm, it was reported Thursday. Sojitz will take a minority stake in California-based Solar Power Partners Inc.
